Getting Things Done

  • Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA)

I served as a founding member and helped develop the original charter. RCEA’s mission is to create a clean, green, and sustainable energy independent future for Humboldt County.

  • Fisherman’s Terminal Building

Working with City Staff, I helped present the final grant presentation to obtain a $2.4 million grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA). Partnering with RCEA, we were able to add additional funding for solar panels and vehicle charging stations.

  • Eureka Skate Park

Working with local community members, I spearheaded the fundraising effort to complete construction of the skate park in 2009. We received generous support from local businesses, contractors and grant agencies.

  • Playground Build at Hammond Park

Obtained a $50,000 KaBoom! grant to install new playground equipment at the 14th & E Street park in 2008.

  • Waterfront Trail Plan

Served on the Eureka Trail Committee and helped develop the Waterfront Trail Plan in collaboration with the Redwood Community Action Agency.

  • Elk River Trail

Obtained $250,000 in funding from PG&E for construction of the Elk River Trail.

  • New Directions

Collaborated with city staff and John Shelter to bring New Directions to Eureka, to help address encampments behind the Bayshore Mall and Elk River Wildlife Area.

  • Sequoia Park Zoo

Served on the Zoo Foundation Board, helped raise funds for the Red Panda and Flamingo exhibits, and strengthened the City’s support for the Zoo.

I am proud of the service I provided as a council member. Here are a few of my favorite accomplishments:
