About Jeff
Jeff Leonard has worked for the state for more than 20 years. He has called Eureka home for most of his life. He lives with his partner, Cindy, a Student Intervention Facilitator at Arcata Elementary School. Together, they have deep roots in the community. Jeff raised both of his children, Zoe and Lukas, in Eureka, with his youngest graduating from high school this past year.
Jeff previously served on the Eureka City Council from 2002 to 2010, where he helped champion projects that continue to benefit the community today. His accomplishments include supporting the development of the Eureka Skate Park, helping establish the Redwood Coast Energy Authority, leading the refurbishment of Hammond Park, and laying the groundwork for what would become the Humboldt Bay Trail.
Now that his children are grown, Jeff is ready to once again dedicate his time and energy to serving the community he loves. As a candidate for Eureka City Council in Ward 5, he is committed to building a stronger, more vibrant Eureka by supporting clean energy initiatives, helping small businesses thrive, and investing in parks and public spaces.
Jeff believes the city can address challenges such as illegal camping with practical solutions rooted in both accountability and compassion. He supports thoughtful policies that improve public safety while treating every person with dignity and respect.
Known for listening carefully, considering all perspectives, and making informed decisions, Jeff is committed to transparent leadership. He believes residents deserve to understand not only the decisions their elected officials make, but also the reasoning behind them. Jeff will champion practical solutions that lead to meaningful action and lasting results for Eureka.
Expect More, Eureka!
